Syphilis lab test need to be taken if you are want to make sure whether you have syphilis or not. This sexually transmitted disease can be transmitted when you have sexual intercourse with someone who have it. You do not need to worry  much since this type of STD actually can be treated easily with antibiotic. The dangerous case is appear when you do not get treated properly when you have syphilis. The test will contain several steps such as physical examination, genital check up, skin rashes and sores check up. Beside that, blood test is also commonly needed.

The result of test itself will be gained after a few days. Taking test for checking syphilis presence is important since it can tell whether you have it or not. You are even possible to figure out syphilis presence after a long time because the blood test can recognize whether your body is making antibodies to fight the infection. The antibodies to fight syphilis bacteria will stay for years. That is the reason that this test can figure out the syphilis presence even after a long time ago.

Doctor may not only recommend blood test but also sore fluid even though it is categorized as rare to do. Usually, doctor will advice you to take the test when you are pregnant, HIV positive or a man who has sex with men. The test itself will consist of several step such as identification and confirmation. It will need your blood, tissue or sore fluid to be completed. Blood test will be effective to detect the antibodies presence while tissue and fluid sore can detect the pallidum bacteria existence in your body.  Unluckily, tissue and sore fluid test is limited into the sore and rashes stages. It makes it difficult to be held in a later stages of syphilis infection.

Syphilis lab test screening

Usually, the syphilis screening is using venereal disease research laboratory (VDRL) test or rapid plasma reagin(RPR) test. VDRL  will check the blood or spinal fluid for antibodies that commonly produced by people who has syphilis infection. Unluckily, the antibodies itself is not specifically refer to T pallidum infection. That is why it may resulting false positive result. In the other side, RPR test is looking for no specific antibodies that produced by body due to the cell damage by T pallidum bacteria.

There are a simplest testing for syphilis infection method called dark-field microscopy. It is work by identify the T pallidum germ in your tissue or fluid from open sore. Of course the test will only possible to be done when the sore is presence. While the most specific test is the fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption test. This kind of test using fluorescent marker to find the existence of T pallidum antibodies in your spinal fluid and blood sample. Unluckily, this kind of method only gain its maximum result during first 3 or 4 weeks after syphilis bacteria infection.

Syphilis lab test, EIA and MHA-TP test

EIA or enzyme immunoassay test will check your blood using specific antibody for syphilis to find syphilis antigens. MHA-TP held after screening test gaining positive result. Blood testing will be possible to detect and early infection around 1 up to 2 weeks after syphilis bacteria exposure. Highest accuracy result can be gained during three months. Sometimes, false positive result can be gained if you ever get syphilis infection before. It is possible because the syphilis antibody will lay on your bloodstream for a long period. You better consult with your doctor to find the proper syphilis lab test.
